1、Spring Festival春节

 

 

The first day of the lunar year is a Chinese traditional festival–Spring Festival. On that day, everyone back home and reunite with their families.They eat dumplings, burn fireworks and wish relatives and friends happy new year.

农历的第一天是中国的传统节日——春节。那天，每个人都回到家里，与家人团聚。

他们吃饺子，燃放烟花，并祝亲朋好友新年快乐。

 

2、New Year’s Eve除夕

 

 

New year's eve, or the last night of the year in Chinese lunar calendar, is called chuxi. It’s one of the most important festivals in China. On that day people usually paste Spring Festival Couplets and stay up all night. Also, The Spring Festival Gala will show on that night.

除夕，也就是中国农历上的一年中的最后一个晚上，叫做除夕。这是中国最重要的节日之一。那一天人们通常贴春联，整夜不睡。此外，春节联欢晚会将在当晚举行。

 

3、Lantern Festival元宵节

 

 

The Lantern Festival falls on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. It has a history of more than 2000 years since the Qin Dynasty. People usually eat Yuanxiao, enjoy beautiful lanterns and guess lantern riddles on that day.

元宵节在正月十五。自秦朝以来已有2000多年的历史。人们通常吃元宵，欣赏美丽的灯笼，猜灯谜。

 

4、Qingming Festival清明节

 

 

The Qingming Festival is about on April 5th of the lunar calendar. It is the most important Chinese sacrificial festival, the main activities are to worship ancestors and sweep the tombs.

清明节大约在农历四月五日。它是中国最重要的祭祀节日，主要活动是祭祀祖先和扫墓。

 

5、Dragon Boat Festival端午节

 

 

Dragon Boat Festival is on the5th day of the 5th lunar month. In folk culture area, Chinese people eat zongzi and hold dragon boat competition, are linked to commemorate a great poet call Qu yuan.

端午节是农历五月初五。在民俗文化区，中国人吃粽子，举行龙舟比赛，都是为了纪念一位伟大的诗人屈原。

 

6、Magpie Festival七夕节

 

 

Magpie Festival, also called Double Seven Festival, is our traditional festival.It’s on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. There’s an old story about a separated couple called Niu lang and Zhi nv ,they will meet at that day according to legend.

七夕节，又称双七节，是我们的传统节日。这是农历七月初七。有一个古老的故事，关于一对被分开的夫妇，牛郎和织女，根据传说，他们将在那一天见面。

 

7、Mid-Autumn Festival中秋节

 

 

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month.It’s an important festival that every family get together to enjoy the full moon and eat moon cakes to express reunion. There’s also a legend about this festival , the Goddess Chang's fly to the moon.

中秋节是农历八月十五，是全家团聚赏月、吃月饼、团聚的重要节日。还有一个关于这个节日的传说，张女神飞向月球。

 

8、Double Ninth Festival重阳节

 

 

The Double Ninth Festival falls on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month.This festival is to show respect to the old. On that day, people usually enjoy the chrysanthemum and eat chongyang cake.

重阳节是农历九月初九。这个节日是为了表达对旧的尊重。 那天，人们通常喜欢菊花，吃着重阳蛋糕。
